Summer 2008
It was decided by all of the members that it would be a good idea for families to get together throughout the school summer holidays. This gave families an opportunity to go for days out with their children and have someone to go with. For many people the reasons for not taking their children out for the day was lack of confidence. However going as a group gave them the confidence to take the steps needed to give the children activities to do throughout the school holidays. The children really benefitted from this, especially for those who were not fortunate enough to be going on a family holiday. Also the parents were shown that you do not need a great deal of money to give the children a good time and sense of adventure. Everyone who took advantage of the itinerary thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The most amazing thing about people taking advantage of this was the fact that the only thing that was provided by the Friends of Breckon Hill was the itinerary. People made their own way to venues and provided their own lunch and entertainment. For some people a packed lunch was all they brought and the entertainment was simply the view. This was really inspirational as it showed that they cared about spending time together without the need for money. Well done everyone who used their holidays wisely and spent it as a family.
